Get up close with the costumes of Star Trek Strange New Worlds – SDCC 2023

You can almost feel the texture of the Enterprise crew's duty uniforms.

While the panel didn’t include appearances from the cast or creators due to the ongoing strikes, Paramount+ was kind enough to give those in attendance an early look at the musical episode of the fan favorite new Star Trek series, Strange New Worlds.

Just about every Star Trek fan worth his weight in latinum at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 stood in the lengthy line that wrapped around the Paramount+ booth for all 4.5 days of the show, just to get their chance to take a seat in the iconic captain’s chair. Not only that, they had a camera crew set up to film everyone’s dramatic posturing as they “gave the command”. Like “engage!” or “hit it!” or maybe “twenty-three skidoo!”. Whatever felt right in the moment. At the end, we received goodies and a video clip of us stepping into (yes, you guessed it) a Strange New World. Pretty trippy.

But while we waited, I found that the best thing I could do with my time was appreciate the finely detailed authentic props and duty uniforms worn by the cast of Strange New Worlds. It’s all got all of the Original Series retro style, but enough small accents to give the costumes a fresh twist. I even got a close up look at the model for the USS Enterprise. My boredom is your benefit, especially if you’re a cosplayer who needs some detailed references for your next batch of authentic-looking hand-made designs.

We’ve got pictures above and video below. Enjoy. And live long and prosper.
